Let me answer your questions in order.
1. I read this reaction as more “how dare he touch something that is clearly mine”. He is obsessed with Ruby. He believes it’s love but it’s an obsession. He can never have her for himself, so the thought of another man even TOUCHING her is something he has a hard time coping with. Some of her former husband’s lost their good reputation because of Cesar. He’s delulu.
2. Ruby has been married and divorced several times (at least twice but I can’t remember the exact number). She is just supposed to be a pawn for her family. Izek is the nephew of the King so he is in a good position to increase their power through marriage. She wasn’t supposed to sleep with him or make him happy but eventually ruin his life and cause harm in the north. There is a flashback with Izek and the original Rudy where she killed his sister. The new Ruby is trying to prevent a lot of this stuff from happening.
3. When he refers to her running away, he means when she left after Freya was poisoned (at least I think it’s pretty soon after). She ran away and lived with her monster friends for several days. That’s when she met the baby dragon and Izek goes on a sleepless hunt for her to bring her home. Many people don’t know exactly what happened because the paladins didn’t tell the whole truth (to protect Ruby’s ability to understand monsters under Izek’s orders), so it would make sense Cesar doesn’t have the exact context right.

Can someone explain the plot or the backstory again? Srsly I am confused. Why did he act that way when he literally hits her too??? What is this duty/mission they're talking about? What do you mean by ran away from home? I thought she was arranged to the ml?? Lol i dont wanna reread this again pps someone give me a recap huhu
