refusing to acknowledge the mc is racist it crazy like he was labeled “extremely racist to orcs” and not understanding that orc characters in media are often used to represent poc. like its such weirdo behavior and unnecessary to have racism in your world building

He was acknowledged as “extremely racist to orcs” by characters that haven’t been around orcs as often as he has. Because Han Hari and the other humans realize that they are emotional beings they believe that they are okay to be around and they welcomed them into their world. A mistake. Demons in this world also have the same complex emotions. Doesn’t make them less evil. They aren’t human and they’re not meant to be. That’s exactly the reason Leon calls them green beasts and why the Gods call them the same thing. He’s been around them 200+ years and they’ve only been on their Earth for what 2? The humans on Han Hari’s Earth don’t know anything about them. Orcs, in this universe, aren’t human and they aren’t meant to be a parallel to poc characters like in other media. Refusing to acknowledge that media is different, world building can be different, and not every story is the same is the weirdo behavior. Don’t blame other people and call them weird because you can’t understand the story properly.

you gotta be illiterate. if you think me pointing out how orcs have have been used to represent poc (which I wasn’t saying as a good thing) was me comparing them, then I don’t think I can make you understand.

I can understand how stories can be different but hiding behind a story to create a character who is crazy racist is weirdo behavior. it was unnecessary and distasteful that’s all I believe

And I’d be inclined to agree with you if he actually was racist but he isn’t. It’s a misunderstanding the humans have toward him because they literally don’t know any better. I read the novel and eventually this misunderstanding gets mostly cleared up by the people around him. The only time the misunderstanding continues is when new people get introduced to Leon and they have to be reacclimatized to what is truly going on. Keep in mind, they know nothing about the gates pretty much. They just popped up one day. That’s why they were easily swayed by demons and orcs. They were too trusting. Because of that demons are rampant on the Earth, the gates show no sign of fading, and orcs are toppling countries, enslaving humans, and etc. Humans see these species as human-like so they trust them and it’s a mistake on their part. That’s the whole point of the misunderstanding. I’ve read multiple stories where I’ve rooted for orcs because in those stories they are unjustly being attacked. I’ve read multiple stories where the demons weren’t the bad guys. This story is not one of them. I don’t feel sorry for rapists, slave owners, and oppressors. In this case the oppressors are not Leon and the Gods, the oppressors are the demons and the orcs. That’s how Leon’s whole world was demolished, a world filled to the brim with people, if you’ve forgotten. Just because he’s strong enough to make them look pitiful doesn’t mean they’re actually victims.

im only going to acknowledge your first point and then we’ll just have to agree to disagree. it is said not by a character but my the narrator of sorts that he is “really f—ing racist against orcs”. This is what I find weirdo behavior, there is no justifiable point in having fantasy racism.
