2.Black people everywhere even in countries like South Africa were they are the majority are the first victims of racism. Other minorities definitely go through racism as well but it is RARELY perpetrated by black people, but white people. And you can actually look this up there are lots of research on it. Even if you live in a neighbourhood like Harlem as a non-black it is unlikely that black people will be racist toward you if you’re not toward them.
3.Most black people being actually racist towards other minorities is reactionary racism because they suffered racism from the minority (this still doesn’t make it right and I do not condone it.)
4.as said by many, if the author wanted to talk about racism he should have talked about Koreans bullying non-Koreans which is actually a thing unlike what he just made up. The bullying from Korean kids is so bad that some foreign kids and half-Koreans died !
5.The way he portrayed and drawn the black character is just super offensive like everyone is drawn normally and the black character is drawn super ugly, like why ? And the fact that he justifies his action by racism and uses it like that is just a way to villainizes black people that would actually speak on racism and make it seems that we victimises ourselves and weaponises racism to awful people.
Definitely ! As soon as a black person does wrong it’s all the the black people that are being pointed fingers at and people are like « see ! Black people are evil let’s be racist towards them !! » but if it’s other people then it’s « well not all of us, we are not a monolith » so you guys get that privilege but not us ? We are not even allowed to complain about racism because then we are victims and we should let it go and be the bigger person smh. It’s exhausting.
My first tought was literally "wtf. What for you mean the foreigners/mixed kids are the bullies? The bullies are always the born and raised citizens!"
Like you (author) have no business trying to tackle racism when you can't even acknowledge your own country's racism.
This is a general overall for any and all authors trying to tackle racism. If you don't wanna be racist them make the kid of your race be the odd one out cause then it makes sense, or build a backbone and acknowledge you're own people can be racist as well!
I saw people on Twitter talking about the last chapter and was super disappointed because I was planning on bindging it but I cannot say that I’m surprised…I have a lot to say and some of the things might have already been said but anyways. Also this comment is mostly for the people that might genuinely not understand the issue but are trying to understand so if you already have made your mind on it and think we (black people) are victimzing ourselves just go fxck yourself.
1.The author first introduction to black people in the story is painting black people as villains . In a homogeneous country like Korea where they don’t know much about black people apart from what they see in media’s mostly created by white people it is extremely harmful ! It’s reinforcing the stereotype that black people are violent (and criminals). Which will lead to people to discriminate us irl because they will believe that.
