I still feel squeamish about all this, but I just wish the author would instead take their route to an actual sibling like companionship, you may look at this chapter and go "oh! It seems like they're just looking out for each other because their friendship goes way back."
But you can't forget that Ruby's original persona is STILL inlove with Aqua's, even mixing up calling him bro and sensei in the same chapter. Sure incest is prevalent in mangas(for some reason) but it's not as good as a plot device for conflict compared to the the other ones established by the author. Long gone was the mystique of finding out the truth behind Ai's murder, other characters seems to have been pushed into the back warming the bench.
