He kinda reminds me of Ben from Heartstopper but I don’t think he’s that much of an asshole. I hope he does get character development and chooses to be himself. I hope he learns to accept and love himself.

I still hate Sunny but he's a very well written character. He's as despicable as a closeted teenager can be, and his backstory justifies his attitude (although not his actions, never his actions) very well. He was written for you to hate him, let's see if he's also written to have a proper redemption arc.
Also, I've been smelling a side couple for ages now, we all know who it is.
