Well, I get what you mean, but technically speaking, the world in older times, like the middle ages, or before that was a much harsher place than today's world, even in war time. Diseases, famine, poverty, wars, there were much more deadly factors than now. So, if everyone refused to have children because "the world is dangerous", Humanity would've gone extinct by now. Human beings are also animals, the majority is biologically programmed to reproduce.
So what if humans go extinct? lol. Y'all aren't that important and with the way the world has turned out shitty with these human animals you speak of, i'd say it's for the greater good but alas, they just can't help but fuck because 'biological programming'. Not sure why you felt the need to add your 2 cents, could've just scrolled past or thumbs down or whatever
I think the me from a few years ago would've agreed. It's selfish and cruel to expose a child to such a harsh world. They're guaranteed to face cruelties beyond what they think they can handle.
But, I think in simple terms, there's so much more to life than pain. They covered it a bit in the manga too. I don't think I could imagine having kids but if I did I would want them to know what love is out there. To taste my favorite fruits, to see the stars, to be able to dream and create and be more than I could've imagined.
They talked about knowing that this child will face so many agonizing human experiences, like death, fear, grief, and the kid might hate them for being brought into this world. But I don't think any parent has a child hoping they're miserable. A parent, especially those who know how hard life is, hope for their children to be happy and have hope that things will be better.
Tldr: maybe you're a little right, creating life will always be inherently selfish, but it's not malicious. They love their child.
Shitting tears rn. And not them bringing a kid into this fucked up place, how selfish.
