Yes because he is originally Korean who then moved to the states. And the story is set in US. So mc has no need to know Russian. Ellena should know English because she is working and going to school in the US. And I guess maybe her brother doesn’t know English very well too that’s why he wrote in Russian. They are the Russian mafia so it’s not like they need to enter the work force. maybe they think knowing English isn’t all that important as long as they know Russian?
