Yeah Yeonwoo was so innocent that he didn't even think about going to the police or talk with his parents right away. Sadly little lambs like him are probably less likely to file a complaint ! And seek help and protection! There is always possible actions but they often requires strong self esteem and a cunning mind.
The answer is in the collectivity and the heroism of one of the victims.
It's so interesting that the author illustrates that there were two victims used against each others: they didn't work together coz they felt completely alone although they were together .
(And the teacher dismissal didn't help.)
The other boy had visible traces of physical violence on his body and they were two victims so two witnesses together they could report and that way at least start to reflect on what can be done legally
(like wearing a portable audio recorder to collect more evidence!!!!! And being more informed about the procedure to file a complaint.) _ but of course the best thing is to get out of the field of action of the bully / break the dynamic. _ The police could solve the issue with the teacher and the two boys, at least talk about simple measures that could help to prevent further escalation of the violence ?!!! Because it is so stupid that the teacher didn't listen but the two boys didn't show the evidence and didn't go to the teacher together, and they didn't ask for other adults' help to talk to the teacher (the author did a good job at portraying the worst possible scenario)
My point is that the police would have more experience than the parents to deal with such cases. Also the policemen are more objective than teachers
+ they know the law and normally they can give proper advice to the kids but also to the adults who are in charge of the school environnement. (Preventive measures should be taken.) And the victims of bullies should also receive proper advice so that they would feel heard and protected. (If they know what to do if it gets worse the anxiety will lessen.)
Did the bully '' commit manslaughter '' though?? It's more subtle than that (it was suicide and not murder.) that's why I am saying it's better to go to the police at least to understand what can be done legally to convict the toxic snake. Somebody has to gather evidence. I am saying that guy (the bully) is a criminal . The police would at least be more aware than the parents and the teachers about antisocial personnalities and the twisted perverted minds that some criminals have.
I believe the victims are dismissed also because people just do not imagine that a true psychopath could well be a student registred in school and going to class just like everyone else.
I understand where your coming from but this is a middle schooler who is barely even thirteen, if you didn't read the panel where he told the teacher that he was being bullied and the teacher tried to brush it off as a joke between boys the. I'll advise yo to go back to the beginning of the flashback. And even if he did tell a teacher and they ended up getting separated or the bully got expelled, the bully still knows what school je goes to he still will get bullied more or even worse, if his bully could push a nother kid to kill themselves and even tell him when he kills himself that he should write his name and everything he did, how is anyone gonna help him? Cause it seems to me uou Don't know how depression works.
to an all boys school and suddenly there’s a transferred student who have that kind of record, girl I’m out. I’ll literally beg my parents to transfer me to another school no matter what. And how can that school accept such student like that motherfckr. I just want the best for Yeonwoo;( pls author let him rest.
