You mean Chen yu? He wasn't stated much even in the novel. He was a common empress. He never care about country at all. I think he was busy treating king but didn't mention in the novel much since they don't want to mix the story with previous one.

This was my biggest fear. The fact that Pei Xingxu died feeling abandoned. The uke is the most ungrateful person I have ever come across in my life. Even Shen Yu wouldn't have been so ungrateful. For Qiyu to deliberately not help until it was late, it was enough to make Liqing hate him. I wish their adopted son remembered his adopted father enough to hate Qiyu.
I hate the uke already. Poor 2nd ML. How blinded by the trashy ML love do you have to be to leave the good behind??? I’m crying. Poor 2nd ML, he probably expected the uke to come back. Fuck both the ML and UKE.

These were some words I copied from the novel. I cried so much I got a fever this morning. The author discarded him like he was trash. It's like she hated him for daring to love that ungrateful soul, Song Liqing. There was NO reason why they delayed to send help for so long. Absolutely none! They were already well out of danger!
He left with Qiyu because he gave him his eyes; so what?! If Pei Xingxu hadn't saved his life, would Song Liqing even have eyes to lose?
I haven't cried as much for a second ML as I cried for Xingxu. Even if he was going to be killed, it shouldn't have been so brutal. All the people who deserved to have gruesome deaths got a redemption arc, even that Qiyu's concubine.
Honestly, if Pei Xingxu had killed Song Liqing then killed himself, he would have been justified.
My only joy is that he wasn't alone in a cold, damp cell when he died. I'm even crying as I'm typing this. I have a lot more to say but I would stop here so it doesn't feel like I keep ranting on and on. I feel I have honored him well enough with my tears. I will never read anything by that author ever again, even if it is all fluff because I would still remember Pei Xingxu and cry for him. May his soul RIP.
Yes. That's a tragic ending for xingxu when he literally did nothing wrong. He was died with cruel while qiyu and liqing got happiness which ridiculous and mad! I hate liqing and qiyu until the end of the story. No matter what he chose to be with the scum. They don't deserve xingxu at all and xingxu the heart of gold deserve better ending. The ending is so fckup. Shall check author mentally while he created such a mess ending
Well, some authors have a penchant of being cruel to side characters. I mean, see the way they killed off Shen Yu's mom. She died alone in a cold cell; tortured, stripped naked and callously killed. I cried so much for her too but I was able to move on cos I didn't know her that well. Xingxu was just too kind-hearted for his own good. I wish he were a bit evil.

Lol. I don't think so. He was too young to know what happened. I didn't read the complete novel. Just read only the parts where the 2nd ML died because I wanted to be sure he didn't die feeling abandoned.
My Hu Nuer.. in novel he really favor his mistress so much to the level let his mistress beat and slap uke until his face all red palm mark. He pampered his mistres damn much while making uke punching bag everytime he was in bad mood. The only best guy here is Pei Xingxu. Uke was brutally tortured due to mistress slander. Seme didn't listen to uke at all. He even put the hot stamp brand on uke's arm to force him. The scene was too sad and heartbreaking to read. at last this stupid uke willing to divorce. Why the angel man and kindest guy has this fate? Why the scum cheater like seme has beautiful ending? Tbh the ending was cruel and terrible. How could they make tragic ending for xingxu after all he done for uke. I curse the ending so bad that i hate both uke and seme. But i hate uke more than anything. He's damn stupid doormat!
