I hate love triangles too! I also really dislike it when the MC is a self insert instead of an actual character. Atleast give them the illusion of a personality, it just gets boring otherwise

Hate love triangles with a passion. Friends to lovers depends for me. Like I enjoy when its like the unnoticeable friend, who is not best friend. And I'm fine with the close friend if they lose contact and reconnect after years.

Other than that yeah. .friends just give off sibling energy at times and should most of the time stay that way.

I hate long drawn-out conflict caused by a misunderstanding that could have been solved with a 5-minute conversation.

See I am a book reader. So if I hated drawn out conflict I wouldn't be able to get through almost any book. They'd also be super short or only a couple chapters without conflict or misunderstandings. How dare authors not just give us a happy story with only happy romance and understanding relationships

oh don't get me wrong I love conflict and when characters are full of angst and pain it's my favorite I enjoy it way more over a happy couple tbh. I just hate if the only problems they have is from a stupid misunderstanding that could be solved if a few braincells were used.

I hate when romance has the female lead fall for the hero/savior after clearly having something going with the childhood "best friend"

I almost always end up feeling bad or preferring the character that wasn't chosen in the end. They only time I will choose to read something with a love triangle. Is if the person who wasn't chosen finds someone else better for them. I typically prefer the 2nd couple when this happens

Yess I agree. They definitely need the 2nd couple ಥ_ಥ it's disappointing how many romances will just completely forget about the 2nd ML afterwards
