This is true in het stories too, there’s just less sex in those in general. A lot of people want to read toxic romance in fiction which I’m kind of over at this point. If it was toxic in a different way (codependency, jealousy, etc.) it would be interesting to explore, but rape is so overdone and not really treated with the gravity it deserves.
Ironically I quit reading het stories because of the stupid way characters always fall in love too quickly, or the story always started with rape of mc/ml and rape was always forgiven but sadly bl stories have become just like that (⊙…⊙ )
