yh, i cant really blame them for not including some small features but some of the key features in the comics werent even included, rather changed up?? im also gonna check out the game bc apparently kim gets with knives (not sure if shes still a high schooler her, prob not tho...) which makes it feel a bit weird. the same goes with the awkward kissing moment no one seems to ever mention (for good reason).
Apparently they wrote the movie alongside the comics so the differences are mostly the fact that movie is shorter, it includes stuff that the author thought about adding to comics but didn't in the end, stuff that the comic author copied from the movie if needed. So its not just an issue of adaptations=bad, "holywood corrupts everything for money" or "directors think viewers are dumb" like usually, its a type of original itself. James Woodall's video on youtube explains it, good stuff
So fun fact about the movie is that when the writer, an artist for Scott Pilgrim precious little life was making Scott precious Scott Pilgrims precious little life. He also signed to deal for the movie. This was while I think the second manga valley was coming out and so the plot of the movie was being written as the plot of the Mongo's being written, which is why it very much closely follows the manga in the early volumes. But after a certain point, the movie finished before the manga could finish, which is kind of weird and that's why they have different endings. So the original ending was never going to be used for the movie because it didn't even come out the time
ngl it might be js me but the movie portrayed the comics differently to how i expected?? like the weird drunk scenes and how the evil exes had some differently made scenes, ESPECIALLLY GIDEON'S. idk if it was more similsr to the game (havent played yet) or the comics
