What in the hell

At first I thought it was a really great story and I understood that Astelle was powerless before she became an empress again that's why it was really hard for her to move around but when she became the empress again why did it look as if she can't even do shit, she can't protect her son properly from her father and I don't know why she's still allowing her father to be by her side. Will this story become better? Because if not I'll just drop this
