Like she has been brainwashed by the world. If she remembers her past she won’t act like that and the girl with family to take care of won’t just simply forget.
Yes, I saw that. But that only happened after she was on planet for a while. She still had all that time beforehand to show some emotional disturbance, be that fear, curiosity, excitement, anger.. anything but that passive, unquestioning acceptance. I have read quite a few of these ‘stolen brides for alien worlds’ type stories in novels and I really enjoyed them. But here the author was just short cutting her way to the sex and poly relationship, and by doing that the FL comes across as a brain dead dolt who just goes with the flow.
It’s just my 2 cents worth. Maybe if I wasn’t spoiled by the novels I own, I could deal with this but it’s lazy writing and I have too much to read to be bothered with such a tiresome FL.
Wow, from this summary it honestly sounds more like a psychological/horror story rather than the fantasy romance it's tagged as. Especially the part about the main character being trafficked and then having her mind/memories get wiped away, like... that's horrifying.
Ikr! It horrified me that it was being marketed as a sexy romance. If the FL had more grit and determination, if she hadn’t been such a vapid airhead ready to spread her legs and have a good time with complete strangers.. maybe, I could have stuck it out. But I didn’t find it romantic, hot, or sexy. I just wanted superpowers to go and kill every sleezebag that went to buy a frightened woman to screw (╯°Д °)╯╧╧

The first sentence had me laughing out loud. But for real, you’re speaking the truth—this ain’t it, and whoever told you “it gets better” is not someone whose recommendations you should trust. I read the whole thing because I wanted to delete it from my reading list. I even skimmed through the parts I’d already read just so I could give the story a rating. And it’s bad, through and through. Even if you ignore the problematic aspects, the bad worldbuilding, boring characters, and more, it’s still just mediocre, in my opinion. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
I love a good polyamory story. This wasn’t one of them.
The FL was passively accepting of being whisked off planet, transported in what appeared to resemble a prison transport, displayed at an auction style venue, fought over by a couple of extremely cute men, and then spending the night bonking her brains out with the one she picked. Ok, nice fantasy. But that’s human trafficking, the nightmare of any sane woman.
Then her partner leaves before she wakes, she is dressed like a sex object, goes off to class to be given an assignment to have more sex, and stops to grab a couple of slaves on the way home… All while wearing a dewy expression akin to a stunned mullet. Oh and within one day she is already forgetting her home planet.
I have read that the story gets good around chapter 30, but the FL is so vapid I can’t be assed waiting to get there. I am sure she gets her happy 4 way relationship, more power to her, but this kind of inane beginning doesn’t have me invested.
