I hate to say this but the whole story now feels like diary written by cheater trying to justify cheating. This used to old trick done ages ago in older novel to avoid having to actually talk about the effect of cheating on ppl who love them or paint nuanced portrait of cheating partner. The moral ambiguity, the guilt, the feeling of wrongness or hurting someone was never explored. She is married to jerk, lonely housewife and cold hubby, he has cash grubby girl friend- list went on to prove why cheating was ok.
Simply by turning hubby into one dimensional villain and I am pretty sure -Reika would be next villain- the author will justify why the narcissist duo deserve to be together. The whole speech about good Vs bad- I am better than her hubby, his friend saying you didn't have to tell you wife or him saying to himself is he really dirty. Are these cheaters ever going to understand how their spouses are feeling, the effect of betrayal. Will writer talk about how that shithead delusional kouki lashes out each time he is worried about her or why Reika has become cold.
You don't just love and care for someone and then turn it off because they cheated. But the whole situation saying he is not picking my call is pointing towards making Watanbe a villain rather than someone who is at loss on how to deal with situation he is in. It was comfortable marriage with no chance of the wife and lover getting together. There are so many who don't know why they are simply pushed away like last year's clothes. Or why Reika is having issue considering her dad and her background. One of the biggest reason why Gone with the wind is loved is not because it had lovely clothes or Clark Gable or even Scarlett O hara. It is because it gave voice to generation of ppl who were cheated and painted as villain in their spouse's story.
If the author does not improve and talk about emotional status of the real victims I am so out of here. The cheater partner can go to hell.
i love ur comment!! but i have to digress hehehe bc i love scarlets dresses!!!!! i literally grew up obsessing over her red and green dress like no the costuming in gone with the wind altered me forever since i wasnt even old enough to understand what the movie was about.
and the other thing was that this doesnt feel like a cheaters justification confessional to me and reika never strikes me as being made an antagonist by the author. she was made to be a strong independent force, a lot of people here take that as her being malevolent/being set up as bad but no ive never seen her as such. and i think the author never intended to paint her as one.
and miyoshis husband has always been an insecure borderline loser, he was always going to trap miyoshi in an unfulfilling marriage by whatever means. her disgust of her husband's reaction (or lack thereof) from her infidelity i have never thought as it being a justification, only an explanation.

From my perspective, lot of her feeling towards him are guilt mixed with hate. Anyone who is not free and indulges in affair has this kind of mixed reaction. It is self defense method to protect one self.
It is funny how she keeps bleating about going away but is not renting house. Her chances with the other man are nil to zero and she will be single mom in country that does not provide help like Western country. Her mom is frankly no help. Her choices are dwindling down.
The truth is she is weak and his method to keep her around are super problematic. I don't like the way he is not taking her friend's call or not completing the divorce form. Whatever his intention are it is clear he must be hurting too. It is case of Reika's mom all over again. Perhaps Reika and he should compare notes.
My issue is by trying to make hubby psycotic author has lost any chance of making FL grow or learn about hurting ppl who love them. That you need to work on marriage. She needs to work on her impulses. When she married him, she never once said she was not in love with him. So how in the world was he supposed to know what is going through her mind. If he had accepted her after being aware of her love for another man or lack of love for him that would have been different story. But she did not.
His issues started when he realized she was hiding something. I am not condoning him. I am mad at author. She lost a great chance to give perspective on infidelity and effect it has on male partner. Surprisingly it is done very rarely in effective way.
A lot many males actually had to accept female infidelity in past especially in England. There was saying in upper class - once heir and spare are born you are free to indulge. In fact many females had known lovers. So accepting infidelity is not uncommon. Comfortable marriage is a priority for many ppl especially in country where divorce is difficult and love is not priority. They try to forget about transgression and move on. Even accept kids from infidelity.
I actually have high hopes for Reika's character. Because all others are acting foolishly. Especially her hubby who doesn't seem to understand you don't prey on vulnerable females to satiate your lust because you have pregnant wife at home. He should have helped the girl to understand her issue.
Yeah that’s why this manga reminded me of heroin shikaku . Like a more mature version of that comic
miyoshi (FL) suffers from main character syndrome and he sees kouki as the same main character in a world full of npcs like her husband. shes bad for cheating, obviously, but it also took her cheating problem to see that her husband has serious self esteem problem and that she would be repulsed by it instead of being sympathetic about it. their marriage is already doomed, i understand her frustation of her husband clinging to it when theres already nothing to it, the cheating was just a trigger.
on the other side, Reika (ML wife) is the complete opposite. she has everything under her control. main character, npc, etc those archetypes dont matter to her because shes the master of her story, even if shes not her own main character.
i think the main characters arent exactly kouki (cheating ML) and miyoshi, but its miyoshi and reika. two women on the opposite side of the spectrum.
