so I decided to read the novel. And IMO the ending was utter shit. The Duke found out that Rize wasn't the innocent girl he always thought she was, found out that she literally tried to hurt herself and frame edith that could have led to her execution had killian not defended edith, and also cliff always knew that rize wasn't as innocent as she appeared, he knew that Riz was the one always trying to frame and kill edith and he was still helping her with her plans regardless and after she tried to frame Edith towards the end and lost, he was still like-" idc who or what you are as long as you keep loving me and stay by my side (lemme remind you that by this time edith had completed all 3 conditions and the original author no longer had any hold over any of the characters), the Duke didn't even put rize in the dungeon for even a day, just locked her inside her luxurious room, like nobody even slapped or pointed fingers at her because the ludwigs didn't let the outsiders find out about rize's true face.

Meanwhile throughtout the story Edith suffered so much and was tortured in the dungeons, was forced to stand on the execution grounds with her battered body and the Duke and everyone saw how beaten and swollen her face was after her scarf fell off, still after realizing that she might not have colluded with the rigelhoffs, ordered the guards to lock her up in the cold dungeon again. So that old bastard was so cruel to edith, an innocent person, but so lenient with a literal murderer. Cliff lied and didn't search the rigelhoff mansion properly when edith, duchess and rize were kidnapped and left edith to die there and rescued only the Duchess and rize. Edith somehow managed to escape only to be caught by the ludwig guards.EDITH WAS TORTURED BRUTALLY by Sophia and dragged to the execution grounds where Killian eventually saved her from execution.

Cliff did stay an asshole till the end. He was rooting for edith's execution like bruh was so mad that killian didn't allow her to he executed. Also he knew rize was doing some shady shut throughout the story and was still willingly helping her. Both rize and cliff are murderers but never got punished. Like forget outsiders, Duke didn't even let the Duchess find out about what rize had done til now. CLIFF AND RIZE HELD AGRAND WEDDING AND WOULD EVENTUALLY BECOME THE DUKE AND THE DUCHESS. Killian and Edith even attended their wedding and congratulated rize. Felt like vomiting after reading this ending.

Like bruh the original author was in rize's body and literally enjoyed making random people possess edith's body so they could suffer and horribly die. Og author was a horrible person even before they transmigrated into their own story. Wasted a day just to read this dog shit ending.

Yes, edith and killian chose not to actively enact revenge / punishment against rize and the rest of the Duke's family, and instead chose to start anew in their own land and ceased all contact to the Duke's family (like, it's too stressful and a headache to have to deal with them, so just cut them off once and for all / they are such trash they're not worth the attention, so let's just focus in newlywed life + developing our own land = aka complete indifference) .

BUT, they do receive due karma in other ways (excpet for cliff) and they slowly start to decay from the inside. I forgot the details since it's been sometime since I read the spoilers from a different forum

But, generally, the decsions of the duke, his wife, and cliff did have relatively severe reprecussions on their family in the end of the story.
I think they were having problems internally, especially with respect to overall management and their reputation started going down. At the very end of the story, it became so problematic that they were no longer as strong as before (like politically and socially???)
I termed it as "decaying" cause their downfall was more of a gradual internal thing rather than a third party (if u count rize as an internal, being an official family member at that point) bringing them down

I thought it would be just about killian and edith's life in ryzen. But I read it just now and yeah rize got a bad ending. I posted the new spoiler again. I really apolgize to everyone for posting the spoiler based on the main story ending ╥﹏╥

I read this spoiler and the recent spoiler, it's still dogshit. Thanks for saving me from wasting my time. Even with what you said about the side story ending it was still not a satisfying ending after all that the mc went through.
