Then, to answer your question, if you look it up on internet you can see that in some temples Hathor and Sekhmet are the same person, so it's like Hathor would have her cute side and also a violent side. To continue, i think the fact that Hathor and Sekhmet are viewed as only one deity in some temples will play on the story and that it's why Hathor is "becoming" completely insane.
