You be fr. What double standart? Are you purposefully ignorant or just never pay attention? If you read both bl and shojo and interact with people you at some point have to realize that most of the time women/mc of shojo are ciricized more harshly. People also defend anything about bl with their lives, its almost like we arent allowed to say anything negative about it. I once commented on how people were hating on the fl for being weak, pathetic and annoying but the same people also praise bl mc's for the same behavior. People acted like i insulted them personaly and i got how dare you messages for a week, its so bizzare. Its the same with shipping, you are allowed to ship straight people with people of the same gender (because let people ship what they want to ship) but if you ever dare to ship a gay/bi person with the opposite sex they literally come for you. (Ex. That girl that wrote a bj alex/reader fanfic and people were sending her death threats because he is gay -even tho he is bi- and you arent supposed to do that!!!!!) And if we are talking about this trope where the original was a bl and the mc is female and becomes a love interest, people go crazy but if it the story was originally straight but the mc is male and it turns into a bl its fine, even really good. People act like being straight is flexible and characters that are straight are a blank canvas for you to thrust your fantasies onto , but any type of lgbt character is rigid and can only be seen as one things as if the lables that they have now define them forever without any room for exploration. (A straight character falling for the same sex-> exploring their sexuality, a non-straight one falling for the opposite sex-> how dare you erase gay people as if the character isnt human and the only thing that matters is that they are gay) I could go on for hours about this, really. Try to pay more attention to what people are saying and what i like to do is reverse the situation and think about how differently people would see it then. There probably are better examples out there but um, sorry for the wall of text and i dont have anything against you so dont take it personally.
