Is the author homophobic or something?

The insistence that Haruhiko wasn’t gay was really off putting…before they do it saying he’s probably into girls??? Totally unnecessary and dude you’ve been in love with a MAN since you were 13. So no I don’t think you’re straight. At least have an awareness of bisexuality, he’s not that much of an idiot. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

Is this your first BL or smth?
It’s a really common trope in BL that love overcomes gender. Basically his love for him is strong enough that he can be with a man without otherwise finding men attractive

Took me out of it normally I like stories like this but this just seems like fetishism of a weird sort where the seme doesn't actually like the uke

That doesn’t mean the author is homophobic….. that’s just stupid…. The kids 20 and doesn’t fully know his sexuality… yes he’s been in love with a man but that wasn’t confirmed until he saw him 7 years later.
I think he just meant “up until now I’ve only liked girls” or something similar but got lost in translation.
Regardless don’t go pointing fingers/ accusing others of something just because you didn’t like something they said that’s stupid

I hate that trope cuz it makes NO sense. You fell in love with him BECAUSE he is a MAN... otherwise you are just bisexual ffs

It is common but recently a lot more BL authors are acknowledging bisexuality and it really should be like that more. Your love can be strong enough for someone and you still acknowledge that he is a guy so you probably aren’t 100% straight

I mean sure, I was just explaining why it was such a prevalent trope
