For me it's not rape since they're both not in their right minds. Unless, one is forcibly went into rut like injecting drugs.

Right. Especially, again, in omegaverse when characters go into ruts they can’t exactly control themselves w the whole “animal instinct” idea. I suppose it would lead to the question of, does the character who went into the rut feel some sort of remorse. Like yes they can’t rlly control it but Ig it matters how they feel after abt their actions and how they treat their partner after. This whole thing has me questioning everything tho so ヽ(`Д´)ﾉ
I very much agree. I would also like if this discussion deepen more. Especially in abo setting, people get confused and kinda misunderstands the actual concept. Not justifying any sort of "rape" even in this type of plot, I just think that people who actually live in that setting accepts it naturally because they understand more than we do.
But again the idea of "rape" is still the same. We cannot say we have to forgive them because of the excuse "animal instinct" and we can't punish them blindly either. So in the end as you said, I also I think it's about how the two person involved interprets the whole situation or how they feel after. Did they regret it or feel such anger towards the other person? Ig we don't have to generalize because everyone have different situations TT. I just hope that everyone who reads this type of stories don't hate on the author and be more understanding. ╥﹏╥

Like yes rape is rape but the question goes a little deeper than that. I feel like there’s so much grey area and nuance to this discussion that you can’t rlly go out and say “this character is a rapist” when the character didn’t want to assault the love interest to begin w. The whole world of omegaverse is just a very grey area to begin w but everyone has their opinions so it is what it is lolol
The topic of rape being brought up in stories in omegaverse is an interesting phenomenon. If both parties are not acting rationally bc it’s the content of omegaverse (I.e having ‘animal instincts’), is it rape on both ends? It’s just like two people getting drunk and then fucking. Because both of them were under the influence and ended up having sex, would it still be considered rape? If both of them regretted having sex w each other, would it be rape on both sides.
