Thank you! I was getting a bit frustrated at many people who wanted Horus to be exactly what Seth wants and needs and not fuck up or be selfish or be unreasonable considering he didn't grow up in the healthiest atmosphere or be in a current position that he is in control of. The only thing Horus has ever chosen for himself is continuing to go to Seth's temple when he was a child and now continuing to stand by his side which labels him a traitor. It's true that he shouldn't expect gratitude because that's not his objective of helping him to begin with, but it's hard not to feel frustrated when the real gratitude is being given to Anubis who looked at all of what Seth us doing for him and ruining himself for him then casting it back in his face with disgust. So I get Horus.
What I really love about Ennead is that every character has a multi-layered personality. You could take any one and dissect even the tiniest details. Even Osiris has a characteristic beyond the obsessed one-sided love.
People also tend to forget that Horus is the youngest demi-god, being only 100 years. He was yearning more than the "love" his mother was showing after his time with Seth. If my memory serves me right, for now he lost his intuition, maybe as a punishment for helping Seth or he is restricting himself. His childish side came more after that.
Hahaha omg thanks this literally made me blush happily ⁄(⁄ ⁄•⁄-⁄•⁄ ⁄)⁄ I'd really love to rant about more characters but my rants are usually fueled by emotions and the stronger they are the more inclined my brain is to think. Idk how people will react to mr saying I hate Isis more than I hate Osiris. At least Osiris knows he's a little bitch and doesn't deny it. He knows what he wants and doesn't excuse his own actions, he just doesn't care how they're seen. Isis, however, is playing the victim card toooooo much and crying woo is me when initially she's the one who ruined the situation and made it worse than it already was. Seth was a victim too. Imo he had it worse than all of them bec he lost the wife he loves bec she cheated and he lost his brother bec turns out he's a psycho and lost Isis who he loved so much and cherished bec of what his brother did, and he lost his son, who isn't even his.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the first person Seth sought out when he was violated and hurt and vulnerable was Isis, and she literally shut him out and directed all her hate of Osiris and what he's done to Seth, who is rightfully a victim of not just betrayal but also rape and abuse and living a lie. She then continued to cry wolf every time Seth does anything. Then she blames him foe lashing out. She's so fucking selfish and the real love obsessed one because her obsession of having Osiris's love is not just ruining her but also Seth and Horus and Anubis. The bitch didn't even hesitate to use Anubis in his plan with the innocent "I'm helping you" mask on her face. She would rather control Horus rather than care whether he's happy despite her preaching and whining of how much she loved Horus that she nearly died in hiding to protect him.
No. To her, Horus isn't a son, it's a piece of if Osiris that she claimed hers, something that tangible that she has that Seth doesn't, even if he has Osiris's attention.
Horus is the looking glass she has to lament about Osiris, and it's sickening.
Sorry i ranted again but i sincerely dislike her pretentious ass.
Yeahh Horus really is very misunderstood not just by irl ppl but also the people in the manhwa having too much expectations of him and telling him how to act what to do what they see. I admire him for not giving a fuck really (which is actually a similar trait he inherited from Osiris) and just doing what he believes is right. Maybe it can seem like he's making Seth's life worse to people here but I genuinely believe that left to his own devices Seth is not gonna get better he's so self destructive and self sabotaging he'd ruin himself just for Anubis then not care about himself or what happens. He'd not heal. He'll have no one to tell him he can be vulnerable and address his emotions (which Horus says) or have no one to stop him from putting himself in harm's way (which horus does) or someone to buffer the situations and stop him from not shutting the fuck up when he finally speaks to other people and turns into self sabotaging mode like he did with Hanekate and pushed her just to punish himself through her wrath (which Horus helped with).
The undeniable truth is every step forward that's happening to Seth right now Horus has a hand in it, and the only thing that's making Horus go crazy and frustrated is the fact Seth doesn't even see that and thinks he's either unreasonable, a pervert like his father (which many ppl here seem to think as well, somehow. Like i get that his behavior is obsessive cause he inherited that but it's not for similar intentions) or that he's too naive and trusting. Especially Seth denying the past of them meeting before which was the MAIN turning point of Horus's life. Imagine being told this moment doesn't mean shit and that you're delusional. No wonder Horus is miffed.
oh my you put my frustration for her into words so well... I used to really dislike her in the beginning though as the story progressed I grew more compassionate towards her. Isis is such a weird and interesting character (I mean they all are to be fair :D) but I was funneling too much hate in her direction so I really tried seeing things from her perspective. her obsessive love for Osiris is well... a bit much... it's fascinating how things sort of even themselves out though ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ like Osiris has the same intense feelings for Seth and similarly, Seth doesn't reciprocate his affections.
I think the reason why Isis is so difficult to sympathize with is bc like you said and my main issue with her is that she situated herself as the sole victim of the situation and refused to see the issue at hand from a broader perspective... jealousy is possibly the ugliest and most toxic of human feelings bc the feeling itself is convoluted. there's love, hate, passion, fear, disgust/repulsion, want, attraction, and many more nuances included within it, and unlike anger or sadness, it is somehow much more difficult to handle and makes you feel "dirty". it is a feeling that makes one feel like they are the victim and somehow justifies them to act unjust bc from where they stand it only makes sense that they need to serve/get "justice". I think Isis is brilliantly depicted running away from the truth as she shuts her eyes to the entire story and only focuses on the injustices regarding her bc that's what jealousy does it shuts down rational thought but it's weird bc at the same time you feel an immense amount of shame/guilt and kind of rotten bc of it. it's really frustrating seeing her struggle so much I wish she had the strength to move forward and forgive. when she is shown from the humans' perspective she comes across as a loving and caring figure and she certainly has that side to her only she shuts it down bc of self pity and intense jealousy.
tbh it's been a while so I'm not too clear on the details but didn't Seth try to rape her back then? also, in Isis' defense I will say that she did have a point and her feelings are very much understandable to a point... but that is my issue with her... it's up to a point... and then it's ugh why woman come on wake already kinda thing ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ instead of trying deal with the situation she made a run for it and drowned herself in victimhood and became a very toxic overbearing mother to Horus who like you pointed out is just an extension of Osiris so no wonder he wants Seth to finally look at him and see him for who he is since Horus has never been fully able to just be himself and perhaps that's what his headcover symbolizes in a way too like he is hidden from view whereas all the others are revealed yet Horus still remains unrealized... and Sekhmet is a mystery so yh :D
(also, it's honestly not all Isis' fault.. the whole situation was a fucking mess and everyone involved made the wrong decisions so yh it's sad but that's life I guess?) ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
My least favorite god is Hathor she makes me so uncomfortable there's smth very off about her (even though she's so fucking pretty damn it) also Nephthys gets on my nerves with her constant crying (and boy, I am sooo curious about the mirror thing and how she's stuck in there when is that going to be talked about?! it's been ages) and I have a massive bone to pick with the foreign god but damn are they all great characters... they're all so very flawed but so beautifully complex and albeit I'm frustrated, I'm also in love with how the story plays out and reveals more and more.... it's so good ( ╥﹏╥ )
Okay I've went through the comment section for a while and I see how many hate Horus and his antics, his jealousy of Anubis (which they either don't get or feel that it's stupid) and that he's boring and, and I quote, "only wants to get in Seth's skirt)
I like kinda see everyone's point and you're free to feel what you want really, but in my pov I don't actually agree with it all and feel like ppl are taking this more superficially than it's intended. Horus doesn't just want to get in Seth's skirt or sleep with him, it's more of a desire to be acknowledged. His jealousy of Anubis isn't bred out of lust. That boy's first exposure to affection and unconditional love was when Seth held his little face, cried and begged him for forgiveness, hugged, kissed, and held him close. Not once, but many times. He went there expecting an evil being worthy to truly have to hide along with his mother from only to witness an emotionally vulnerable beautiful god hugging him, and then called him Anubis.
Now to young Horus it didn't matter much what he's being called as long as he can enjoy being close to him, but the older he gets the more he wants to be looked at and cherished this way. His love for Seth isn't meant to be sincere and pure at the beginning. It was pure obsession, and I think that's what he realized the first time he "slept" cough raped cough with him and realized his desire to have him was lethal to Seth. I believe with the plot development, the more vulnerable sides to Seth, and the truth of Osiris being shown he's begun to have his love and affection (as well as sympathy) for Seth to run deeper and more genuine.
I also would like to stress that the concept of incest doesn't exist here cause they all inbreed and it's not even considered a taboo to them, so him being jealous that Seth kissed Anubis (which I actually think of in more like you are willing to bend and break and go out of your comfort zone for this version of Anubis that hurt you a lot and doesn't even remember you or hold the same kind of affection to you or help you in any way, while I, the one who keeps trying to show you I care, who keeps helping and saving and bending myself backwards for you, won't even get a fraction of such treatment) isn't him being unreasonable because oh no that's incest Horus (again even tho i believe that's not as simple as that to Horus) cause THE ARGUMENT ISN'T VALID HE LITERALLY WAS MARRIED TO HIS SISTER AND WAS RAPED BY HIS BROTHER you guys.
ANYWAY sorry that's a loooong rant but I don't actually dislike Horus but I'm looking at it the same way I'm looking at Seth's character study. Horus is battling with his own traits that he inherited from Osiris, and battling the "am I helping Seth because he actually deserves the help or am I doing this because I love him" while knowing he's betraying his people who he actually didn't want to rule but he got caught up in the power and love struggle of his parents and uncle and aunt. If he's now acting a bit goofy or childish I'm so FUCKING glad for it because for so long he was forced to mature too fast and fight and not think of anything for himself. Let the guy breathe.
