The original language (Korean) doesn’t use gender specific pronouns like he/she but rather genderless pronouns similar to my own language (which is why English confuses me occasionally). He/she exists but it very rare usage. But when unofficially translating to English, translators usually assume the character’s gender based on appearance and assign he/she, that’s probably what happened to Aster. Gender specific words were likely not used in the original until later in the story.
Am I dumb??
