bl gl whatever you want to call it is just a form of entertainment. who cares if its empowering people or not. honestly i could care less, and lets be honest, the issues actually affecting the lgbt community are not mitigated if you say "stop reading bl its fetishization", don't take it too seriously and just read whatever you want to read
I understand your point and agree with people should read what they want. Like if you like reading dead dove stories then go ahead! but my point wasn't to say "hey this is hurting the lgbtq community" and to make the actual issues less hurtful. I'm not saying you shouldn't consume the media at all, even I read it. Again, it's just weird to surround yourself and make your whole personality all you read is gay dudes fucking.
But isn’t that what the creators are trying to do, they make the content for people to read, and if the type of content is gay dudes fucking it’s not really a problem, both sides Benefit from it. Also, it’s not really a problem unless you try to make it one. Some people like things other people don’t. It’s a matter of opinion, morals and belief. Yes one side can be wrong or incorrect, but we’re just talking about reading gay sex. And lots of people make what they like their whole personality. Say someone really like the color pink. They can surround themselves with it and talk about it a lot but in the end it’s not hurting anyone.
I understand. for how long I read BL I don't really have a problem with it I'm just reading it cause I've found it fun I do have boundaries when in Comes to reality I hate when fudanshi/fujoshi ship real people some of us are just so toxic defending yaoi but it's just a hobby it will become a problem if you make it a Problem
I agree. Do you know the anime "Kiss Him, Not Me!"? The protagonists is what I had in mind while typing this down. Her behavior is what I meant when I say it's weird. She's constantly projecting what she see in the media she reads/plays onto her (what i guess you can call) guy friends. I guess that's what I was hinting at lololololol
I've tried to bring up this topic in the past, but people didn't take it good. I'm not gonna shame you guys but I hope you guys are aware if that's the only content you are consuming. The same thing goes to girl's love. I disagree with the debate that reading bl (especially those with sex scenes) is empowering women. And I know it's kind of hard to see that it is completely wrong as a few years back I was the same way with the same mentality. It is completely wrong and fetishizing to only refer to the couple in the media as seme/tops/ukes/bottoms, it seems that you don't even view the couple as human and only a sex symbol of sorts. It is completely okay to consume the content, but if it's an obsessive thing, if you make it your only personality trait, and only consuming 18+ content then you need to slow down and rethink.
I honestly didn't know if I should ask this question because people may misunderstand my intentions of posting this. I'm only posting this question as to kind of make people aware and they learn from it.
I hope what I said doesn't seem negative (like if I writing this down with a rude voice.) or derogatory.
I want to know your guy's opinions and pov's/experience's to get a better understanding.
