He's not a Luffy reference. He's from 'Journey to the West', a legend that dates back to 16th century China. If there are similarities, Luffy might be a reference to or based off of him instead
Sun Wukong is also called the Monkey King. He's not a sun god. The character that sun is the pronunciation for refers means grandson, but refers to monkey in the translation of his full name
