I had the same discontent, but as I understood, besides being the only way he could to give them a better life, since in his side of the country the beast people cannot be free, its the way he was able to offer them a better life and he doesn't know how to do anything else to help them cause of the way he was educated/raised. I'm not justifying it, but it seems the beasts were fine with it, given their circumstances.

Erm maybe because they didn’t care about selling their bodies they cared ab better treatment from customers and the person leading the shop
