so turns out the girl is his dead wife! The whole time she was just a ghost. She died in a car accident, but because she wasn't able to move on, she returned as a ghost but with no memories of her life with her husband!
The guy knew she was a ghost all along, but pretended that they were neighbors, I guess to like- just be able to be together again!
