I laughed so hard at this ngl.
Based on the flashback in chapter 45, Jake is already attracted to Shin from their first meeting. After getting scammed, he was planning to use Shin for his job (hence "keeping" him), but probably changed his mind after learning about Shin's past from the background check. At least that's what I get. (≧∀≦)
Love how their relationship turned out but I'm still not sure why did Jake take Shin in after he tried to scam him. Like was it just plain attraction or smth else
