Oh yeah? What the fuck is her regret even good for? Is it going to bring back the kid? Maybe if she killed the kid by accident, I would agree to everything you are saying. But she wanted the kid dead. She locked him in !!! That boy starved to death. Do you know how painful that is?? 8 years jail time? What nonsense is that. She doesn't regret shit. If she hated the kid so much she should have given him away to an orphanage. Not murder him
happy HOW? she's served her jail time, she's literally still struggling to find a job and she will feel guilty for the rest of her life. she's BARELY alive and clearly she won't be able to spend her life living, just like the rest of us bc her regrets haunt her. that's her real punishment and i'd say that's fair bc no amount of jail time is justice if the perpetrator doesn't regret. i was bawling my eyes out but your stupid take dried my eyeballs. seriously, how did you read the manga without actually reading it.
tldr: the author have implied that she regrets her life and showed us many times that her life isn't fun and games, she's NOT happy. the author is quite literally the god here. just bc the author didn't show it to us by making her verbally say it or express it by breaking down and apologizing, does not mean she feels otherwise. it's the art of subtle telling.
honestly, this is exactly what the angel said abt us playing right and wrong. your question was "is regret going to bring kid back?" well, is serving a life time or death sentence will bring her kid back? no. if she hates the kid, she won't cry for him. and yes, i also thought why won't she just give her kid away, but we're not in her shoes so it's easy to say that. just like how we'd say to our friends just break up with their toxic partner. literally, just leave lol? but we won't be able to understand unless we're in it. our thoughts and feelings are just too complicated for us sometimes.
you really need ask questions and try to find the answers yourself before actually asking them, there are so many possibilties (but does not make it just) as to why she did that horrible thing, one of them is that she's mentally unstable from all the trauma she went through, therefore couldn't think straight. a person could be both the victim and perpetrator so yes, she's still in the wrong and ofc, we can't not blame her doing that just bc she's not mentally stable, but if you only want to know as to how she could do such extreme, it's that. no person in their right mind would do it.
now, i'm guessing they gave her a light sentence bc she was underage and the FATHER neglected them both. remember? the other parent who's an adult who got no job, wasn't there when his kid was born, and took 0 responsibility? if you think abt it, he should be in jail too. along with his parents, they dont give a shit to the girl their son impregnate and their grandson. also bc she'd still have punishments from society (no stable jobs and castaway).
now that i feel silly for letting out genuine arguments over a 2d character, i wanna let you know that Hayao Miyazaki does subtle telling too, check out his movies, they're cool as fuck. as for the opposite, i've seen Makoto Shinkai goes above and beyond with the characters verbal confessions, which is not my cup of tea but you might enjoy his works.
I hate the mother so hard. Why does she get to live happily
