ig it's normal to enjoy such. i also don't have any issues reading such heavy themed yaoi. i do enjoy it especially if the execution is great and as long as it's necessary and is helping to develop the story. plus i also don't a give a fuck most of the time, somewhat like a prepared mindset? like, "this isn't real and i don't want to do this irl." by that, i get to enjoy reading stuff because i'm not stressing over how morally gray it is. besides, it's only fiction. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
it really depends tbh, i don’t like it when it’s just brushed over and they end up happily ever after or when the victim’s reaction isn’t realistic. (this is probably controversial but bj alex was like that for me)
i do have a problem with how recurrent it is in the bl genre tho, i feel like it’s too often used when it isn’t necessary to make a character morally grey or whatever (under the greenlight shows how unnecessary it is really well).
overall i think it’s fiction and it’s not that deep most of the time like ppl can just enjoy whatever they want as long as they’re not being problematic irl
personally i wouldn’t say i enjoy seeing it per se, i’m just a sucker for dark stories, psychological manhwa and such so i think it’s good when it’s explored well
in painter of the night i was actually quite triggered bc of how relatable it was, i feel like it showcased toxic relationships well enough and that despite being abused, one can still love their abuser.
Does people really find pleasure/enjoyment reading rape and abusive yaoi? I also don’t have an issue reading those and can’t find myself hating on them. Is this really a thing?
