I thought the original comment was helpful but random. I don't know why anyone would vote it down lust because of its randomness... I think its helpfulness should outweigh that.
Probably because people were abusing it, and using instead of thumbs down. There were some who seemed to think that it meant they should click whenever they personally felt annoyed by someone's POV that they disagreed with. Instead of the more restricted use of simply clicking when a post was in someway inappropiate for the forum, either due to irrelevant content or extreme and hateful language. That I think is in the end our loss.

Agreed. Really bad choice of word. But really how likely is any forum to invite members to air petty annoyance with any viewpoint they don't agree with, especially when there already was a thumb down to show disagreement? Not only redundant, but would obviously be inviting the kind of bad feeling forums usually try to avoid.
I think it only reports to the site if there are a lot of ppl who clicked annoying, say like 10 people. That's just my idea of how it worked. Anyway, I'm one of those who voted down bc the post is random and irrevelevant. We have a forum where more ppl would be able to see a topic about suicide, I suggest they write it there. They can also check out 7cups.com, it may help.
