yeah totally and its boys run the riot ( https://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/boys_run_the_riot/) !! its p popular so u may know it already but if u dont make sure to read it! it was also made by a trans guy author so :33
But he hates himself for it, like the whole problem is that he absolutely hates the fact that theres a possibility he might not see him as a man. I don't think he's really transphobic if he realises that its not right and that it hurts Rika. As for the uncle, there really isnt much he can do about it? Like you cant change someones feelings, he's letting Rika and Sasuki figure it out between themselves. And rika himself told satsuki that it's not all his fault.
it doesnt really matter whether he hates it or not its still internalized transphobia and it personally makes me hella uncomfy and i wouldnt be able to still talk with someone like that, knowing they will never see me as a man. so even while rika himself doesnt mind it, its still not okay. and the uncle as an adult should at least try to educate satsuki or wtv and not just let him go especially when its his nephew we’re talking about ???
no one is imune against internalized transphobia. not even trans people themselve (well.. I can take myself as an example unfortunately). Acknowledging he has an issue (the fact that he still sees his crush a a girl) is actually not transphobic. what would be transphobic is him treating him as a girl WILLINGLY.
That being said : it is very much VALID for us (trans people) to feel uncomfortable with his character and voice our opinion. The realness of his caracter does hit too close to home..
me personally, I wouldnt go out with someone who does not sees me as my real identity but I wouldn't cut ties with them neither.
Trans person here: these are TEENAGERS. Please remember that no one's born "woke" and some of us were pretty fucking terribly -phobic at their age. I personally wasn't bad on the outside, but I battled with horrible inner lgbt-phobias.
I am uncomfortable with that character, but that's the idea of him being there, because it's showing a teenager who has never interacted with a trans person before and how he's coping with falling in love with them. Rika has body dysmorphia so he'll likely want to go through HRT and some sort of medical transition, and I hope we see how Satsuki copes with that, because that's something that's not even in his mind yet.
This manga is *realistic*, you can't expect most teenagers in his place and circumstances, especially in a conservative country (when it comes to the lgbt community), to act 100% perfectly.
i thought thye would be a cute trans boy x cis boy couple but ummm....the guy is transphobic??? like not even lowkey, sure he may not want it but the fact that he STILL sees the mc as a girl is internalized transphobia and i hate how the uncle doesnt do anything with it? and idk what his parents have to do with it? him being blatantly transphobic? like am i missing the point or???? anyways great transmasc rep finally bc i know only like 2 of them rn
