Omygod finally someone who shares the same sentiment. I honestly feel that way towards this manga, too. I do not hate it, per se, in fact I actually really love this manga. But I always get the feeling that the seme is not really there for the MC? Like I get it, he's that character that doesn't say much but just act on it, but it just feels forced, in my opinion. It's like the MC's the only one who has to compromise and understand everything in their relationship.
And to add to that, the author gave the seme a backstory to emphasize and justify why he's the way that he is right now and I honestly just think it's bad character writing. The art is superb, but story not so much.
I like the authors art, the story was okay but honestly there was always this icky feeling with the seme. Tbh I don’t think that they have a healthy relationship or communication going on. It’s not toxic necessarily, bc there’s a spectrum between healthy and toxic, but still just not healthy. When the uke said how awesome it is to communicate while having sex and it feels like a couple, I was like yes that is awesome but that’s not really happening with you two. Like just bc the author writes a sentence like that, it doesn’t mean that it was actually portrayed that they can communicate or do it. Bc no they didn’t. Especially the seme with just doing whatever he wants etc. And it pisses me off how his behavior is presented as some kind of bdsm thing but honestly for me it was just him selfishly getting his needs satisfied. like he just did what he wanted to do, then it was always about how the uke should lay still and whatever not. I’ve read some good bdsm yaois and those were never so onesided and whatever. So no I don’t think his behavior was okay whatsoever or had anything to do with healthy bdsm. Idk I like this author but they had another manga (koi kirari, kage sururi ) were again the couple had this very weird vibe going on, like they’re just not ready for a relationship, and I get the exact feeling here as well
