i might really late but the description of your story is the same as the emperor's strategy !! i just watched the donghua and most things you mentioned are the same, the name of the novel is The Emperor's Strategy or Di Wang Gong Lue by Yu Xiao Lanshan, so you are right, this is the manhua of the novel you read :))

So before I pick up the manga I just wanna know if it’s based on a novel I’ve read before.
So from what I can remember from the novel a young emperor had some troubles but got help from a “friend” who wasn’t a king but was still called a king for some reason. Then this king went to the capital where the emperor lives and they get together and papapapp
Also, this king has a younger brother or something that is supposed to be really pretty, and an old master teacher person who are trying to get him to get together with the emperor.
Also, I think the emperor kept a peach blossom tree that he kept digging up and replanting again whenever he got mad. The tree was supposedly gifted to him by the “king”
Wow, my explanation is all over the place but this is basically all I remember.
