But it can be read as BL? That’s the beauty of the novel; you can read it however you want and draw your own conclusions. It’s written in a way designed to keep you thinking about it and ‘dream’ your ending. That’s what’s so wonderful about it. Gender isn’t an issue, and Dokja can end up with whoever you want him to end up with. This is true for all of the characters as well. The relationship between Dokja and Jonghyuk, in my eyes, is like that of soulmates. That can be platonic, romantic, or whatever else in between, but it’s something that runs deeper than any other bond, and there’s definitely love there.
Do they have to be written kissing in order for them to be involved? To they have to be written saying ‘I love you’ to each other in order for them to be together? Of course not! They have something BETTER. They have “Kim Dokja will be killed by the one he loves the most.” They have “My name is Kim Dokja” when Jonghyuk wishes he was there. They have “Life and Death Companions” and eternities spent just to meet each other. They have cosmonauts in the endless void traveling as far as they can just to bring the other home, and an infinity of loneliness just to keep the other alive. There is so much, so so so SO much, that shows the depth of their love for each other, it would be insulting to call it something as simple as ‘romance’.
Plus, if we want talk representation, there are LGBTQ characters everywhere. And isn’t like our main characters end up with anyone specific either, implied or not. You get to choose.
AHHHHHHH!!!!!! I cant wait for the soup scene!!!!!!!
BTW, I really like that novel readers all agree that it was great read! They didnt bad mouthed the author about things, [except being sad just because of the fact that it isnt bl ╥﹏╥] I know the pain guys, I was hoping that this was the first fantasy manhwa to have a great bl, but nevertheless it is a great read!
