No, certain gamer guys are weird like that. They probably just want a girlfriend period and don't really care who it is lol. I play a survival game and so many random guys messaged me wanting to be roommates, usually with romantic intent (until I got a roommate who's actually just my alt lol). A guy and girl in my camp became roommates and he was already calling her "baby", "sweetie" after only a few days.
Just ignore it. They'll move on if you're not interested or they find a new target. If not, you can always block him, right?
