in my opinion, i also don't like that trope... however. i have a feeling that even if they met as children it wouldn't do much to change the plot. well hopefully that's how it plays out (▰˘◡˘▰)
Finished the novel, I don't remember anything about them meeting as children.
I honestly would like it if they would stick to the novel's story because that's such an overused plot.
