I think she doesn't recognize him because he's known to be completely decked out in black armor that's why he has someone prentending to be him where he's suppose to be right now wearing his armor. In the novel he also never showed his face or I gues gave much of a description other than him being a bloodthirsty killer. I think if they had included that his life was always on the line and the effect of his mom's death she may have had another opinion of him. But other clues are constantly being dropped like how often the person she thinks is a mercenary for hire (her black kitty) keeps mentioning that the crown prince isn't that bad and maybe she's his type (showing bravery in the face of death) and that it makes since that her dad would train the crown prince for him to be in the same league. I'm looking forward to the reveal! (￣∇￣")
