He totally does and Iouri loves him but I'm pretty sure that Adam never liked his mom. He's just warped and the only way he can keep Iouri under his control/influence/tied to him? is by cruelly distancing himself in the physical relations he makes the desperate Iouri use for business. They're both pretty warped but Iouri's warped side shows with his regard to others while Adam's shows with how he handles Iouri.
