Theres a phrase that is often said when men tend to sleep around impreganting different women(atleast in mangas i dont know if it applies IRL) and that is "planting their seeds" and what I take from that is when semen is released inside they are the "seeds" that are about to be planted in fresh soil(the egg) with the help of its fertilizer(the womb) and will then grow a new plant in about 9 months
Hmm... Interesting. I think it's either because of the origin of the word or it is a FoS. Men plant the seeds and it grows in the soil or womb of women. No woman can have their own child without men. Also, plants can grow without fertilizer.
I'd say it's more "watering the garden" that spreading seeds. The egg is the one that grows (sprouts roots/limbs) not the other way around.
