"realistic" writing.. whats it to you? lets discuss!

idk abt you but i see a lot of people under some straight up messed up work clearly crafted to fit a certain fetish/aesthetic claim that it's realistic. at this point, i think people are abusing the term "realistic". as soon as something suffocatingly depressing/downright criminal comes up they immediately shove it under the word. nah fam, thats HORRIFIC. DREADFUL. MELANCHOLIC!! please do not dismiss the obvious psychological intention behind them!! yes, it might be happening somewhere in the world, but on that same logic, doesnt that also count for other genres?? (excluding the obvious ones like isekai and etc...)

realism to me is more of healthy communication, RELATABLE dialogue and logical thought processes, and just regular stories coursing through common emotions and troubles. therefore, mental issues can still be written in them, but not fleshed out in a way to sexualize them?? i just find it troubling when a story was written clearly to romanticize/intensify a situation to satisfy someones (strange) personal view and the comment section is full of statements like “wow this was such a hard read. so realistic.” like if it was hard in the first place- dont you see the problem here???? a line needs to be redrawn i believe :)

..or is that just what i hope realism is?

anywayz <3 any recs? :3
