I think maids from inside the palace are not allowed to work while pregnant.. if the emperor know that she's pregnant that's mean she'll be casted out of the palace right..?(๑´^`๑)
No later on in the story you find out that several maids slept w their boyfriends who r knights that refuse to take responsibility and push all the child or abortion on the women to handle by themselves. But yea, pregnant women can’t work in the palace.
