i would trust a real person, with a good reputation more than some random mystical being who was supposed to rip me apart to shreds as a sacrifice, then weirdly claims that he wants to serve me, like what does he want? kinda suspicious.
also i don't think she has completely trusted the duke, she just tells him something that he will likely discover in time anyway, maybe she trusts the duke's reputation and his sense of duty and obligation to the people.
it's good to be weary and alert, if she really trusted everyone around her after being abused like that it would be truly naive. before i started reading i thought she was really weak bc of all the comments, but she's actually pretty strong willed and determined. she's making the logical, correct AND morally good decisions and im proud of her. i would've trusted him at first sight, but that's bc im weak to hot guys, and have a high chance of being tricked and killed by any handsome man who's sweet to me lmao.
