Base on what i searched grooming is when the guy has an ulterior motive on the child. like for example caring for her but has an ulterior motive between those mostly on negative things. idk but i feel like this comment could be misleading, if it is unintentional then maybe it is not then! Most of all for young readers they pick up diff. knowledgehmm
Being the endgame does not mean that he grooms her. The term "grooming" requires an intention & active pursue of an inappropriate sexual relationship from the get go. There's not even an indication of that so far, especially as the spoilers indicate that they will only start to see each other differently when she's adult.
What people need is to educate the children on how to identify a grooming behaviour, it is not 'only' based on an age gap. It is a set of specific behaviours with bad intentions.
Problem is, society likes to lump "older guy taking care of younger children" as pedo/grooming without caring about anything else. Doesn't matter if it's actually just an older male ward taking care of his charge (dads doing parenting, brother playing with sister, etc.), they now can't, because people always thinks of them as pedo.
Or like this manga, when the guy is simply rescuing her and bringing her back to society, but the comments throw the term grooming at him. Like, he should just left her in the place he found her with the corpses?
(unintentional) grooming aside, idk how the kid would stay humble when she’s convinced she’s this great heroine that’s destined for greatness unless something significant happens….
