I've read historical records on practices from Korea and China, consummation actually has several customs and especially more dreadful lives for those special palace ladies because of their status. I've read that there is even special custom where some ceremonial eunuch or palace lady would have to wait on during copulation and collect the sheets afterwards. Sex slaves? Even worse.
