I think it's probably bc the word has evolved to encompassing agnosticism now.
Ofc, strictly speaking that's not what atheism is, but words evolve with time. It's a lot easier for people to recognize atheism over agnosticism.

Kind of like how the word "literally" has evolved to meaning "figuratively" (as paradoxical as it may be. Now people use the word literally in sentences that are meant to be conveyed figuratively.

Well I certainly am atheist. Religion is made, by those in power, as a way to justify their position and control mass of people. Then again, I also don’t believe some science bs but I’ll rather believe that than a cult.

Weren't there a title for someone who didn't care whether there is a God or not? It's not atheist, cus atheist is someone who doesn't believe a God exist, i forgot what it's called godammit.

I think that's the word I'm looking for lol I've been thinking about it since yesterday and couldn't find the answer, all the Google search says was that it's atheism (￣∇￣")

The way I've always quantified it was

Atheist = having no belief
Agnostic = having belief (which can differ depending on the person) but no faith

And then just not limiting it to Christianity....while also acknowledging that this was my own personal definition of the terms.

Yes! Perfectly said. I understand but it is starting to lose it's meaning if you don't use it accurately.. the evolution of the word sometimes sounds like laziness If you don't know the exact term
