ikr lol as a kid i read alot of shoujo mangas and suprisingly they contained quite the number of smut in a setting where characters are young highschool students. so this makes me question how laidback premarital sex was for the youth in japan startibg 2007 (year when horimiya was first published)
They're pretty open about that... imma read olds shojo manga and they're pretty open about sex and there are also a since were having sex is BIG DEAL like an honor or some shit like in america high school life... get what i mean? If not. Sorry about that
yeah I know about american honor sex that they have and I also remember that when a highschool kid killed some girls cause they didn't want to have sex with him or because he couldn't lose his virginity. I was a teenager myself and I didn't get him, I still don't get him. If he wanted to have sex so badly why not get a call girl!! And thank god I never understood the desperation like even now the series "never have I ever" makes feel like.....is it that hard to have sex. For me, rather than sex, keeping long distance relationship or long-term relationship is hard or a dream like. Likewise, I am ok with teenagers having consensual sex but get a room or lock your room or please keep your business to yourself.
If this was a smut manga, I wouldn't be so angry. And, even shoujo and smut don't bring in kids unless it's shouta. Anyhow, I know I can't judge the entire japanese culture due to manga so I want to talk to japanese person and I ask them. Also, in my mind, I might stereotyping asian culture as conservative culture but even in america 10yr is seen as a kid and follow pg or kid version shows so that kids can stay innocent until 13 to 14 then also they fall prey to predators or they become predators. Man, children psychology is hard.

The web comic has a darker tone overall, the manga made it light with a hint of the darkness but that didn't fit in well because they made it so light.

However, they might cover it, an elementary student got to know that his sister is having sex.................I can't just pass that..........I just can't......thinking about the mental issue he might have that there was nothing innocent in their conversation like in anime.
