Totally agree with you. And I might add that she regularly deals with such realistic obsticals. Lots of girls get too involved in romance early in life and I'm glad this story is about HER and not about the guy she likes. She's also had to deal with bullying, sexual harassment and assault, misogyny, a broken home, rejection.... it's such a good manga I hope it goes for many years.
Even though I too want Ren and Kyoko to finally come together, I'm glad the writer is still sticking to the original premise. This girl wants to grow into a strong independent woman and achieve her dreams on her own volition. I'm really happy this hasn't turned out like most all other romance mangas where the whole story is just her bending to the will of the romance and losing any gumption she may have had, peppered with a few predictable obstacles and shallow dips into the lives of those around them.
Kyoko has things to face in her life and we are getting through them one by one. Likewise for the supporting characters and love interests. It's refreshing to have this not be ALL about her and Ren. This story my be slow, but it's never been gratuitous or cliche.
