yeah this. i get that in the political world shit is unfair blah blah blah but the emperor was wrong in expecting Latil to always cater to his decisions. he was selfish in that way and he disregarded whatever Latil may feel and experience during those times. Latil had every right to be mad at him and even refuse the emperor bc she doesn't own him anything.

In the novel when he and latil met again...he revealed that he never slept and even kissed anyone beside Latil. He is still yearning and miss her. He doesn't trust the empress too because her family is sus. That's all.
the emperor dude isn't a bad person imo. he had to do what was necessary and break his promise to latil so he can secure the throne and save his country. the marriage is clearly political and was orchestrated by duke daga. also he did try to communicate w latil, its not his fault the letters went missing bc of duke daga. the only bad person here is daga, stop shitting on the emperor dude when he was put into an unfair situation. its not his fault
