i think the fl is just a bit immature. i do not mean that she is immature in her behaviour and manners but.... in doing business bcoz she is new here and before this she was bedridden and so she did not hav much experience. so i think she is a lil inexperienced.
Ikr i cant understand y a lot of comment support her of not receiving help, that she should do things alone. Thats absurd.
She did want to distance herself from him though.
She can't just rely on him every time she's being ridiculed. She has to win her own battles herself. She believes that her work can speak for itself.
Ikr that scene had me dying. She’s just establishing her business of course she’s gonna need some damn help. Does she know how rare it is for someone to make a successful business with zero connections and a lack of networking. Ego can come later when she has some footing.
Even though her work can speak for itself, majority of the investors will not try it because she has no weight to her name in that room. If they don’t try it how will people know of it’s value. I get she’s trying to distance herself but in that moment she could have used the opportunity he gave. Plus she can’t distance herself too much due to the perfume he buys as that’s her biggest client. She needs to make connections, even with the host. She could have used that connection to get further in that door of business. Sure, she wants to fight her own battles but she’s not going to win without the help of others. She needs to have a name to her products that have solid base of well know nobles using her products. Especially, as she is aiming for nobles in social circles.
I’m kinda confused, the FL could have used the Duke’s interruption and praise of her work to create more clientele. I get that they were laughing at her after, but she could have put on a fake smile and ask if they would like to try as their so interested. Plus the Duke is there so he will be giving death glares and the nobles would have no choice but to say Yes!!! Then the real magic works.
I get wanting to settle the situation, but she was not doing a good job as the AHOLE was already making people think that her product was bad. Then all she wanted to do was allow that AHOLE to sample her product which wouldn’t happen. The FL could have at least said a snarky comment to appease my rage but she didn’t. The Duke has money and influence in that party while she is a broke investor of sorts. The people are not going to ignore the Duke because of this!!! So USE him to your advantage and advertise that he uses your products.

I just thought of this now but the FL could have said, well for such a cheap sent why would sos ( the host lady) enjoy it. Or are you saying that (the host) has a poor taste in perfume.
* the AHOLE would be unable to say too much as the host has INFLUENCE.
The FL would then continue by saying, plus my product which you call cheep, is unique as it’s suitable for users that have sensitive skin. (The she would tell about her energize product) So I would like to know about your products, if mine or so called cheep.

The FL starts to be a little snarky and critiques her product. Then asks for a sample ( the way the AHOLE was snatching her perfume it didn’t look like she had any samples of her own just her big mouth) so she would be unable to share her ‘knowledge’.
