Ok for all the people saying she’s insane, or needs therapy, you need to chill tf out. She was deeply in love with him, truly to the point that even when he left her, she’d still been in love with him all that time. Nevertheless, y’all obviously don’t know what an unhealthy obsession looks like, because she still respected her own boundaries despite his attempts at her. And ultimately was even willing to plan his party to look for a wife, on a lowered budget at that, in spite of her lingering feelings. People who have unhealthy obsessions (especially with people) would not in any way at the way she has, and while I won’t deny that she has certainly suffered from trauma (tw child abuse from her father), her reactions to the whole ordeal was somewhat realistic. Like we forget that he was one of the sole people who comforted her during the time she was abused, and in some ways, helped her go on living. While there is no doubt she truly loved him, I think her affection is much deeper due to the fact that he was with her during one of the most traumatic parts of her life. And the fact that she’d want her son to look like him, probably stems from the fact that she in some way wanted to keep the memory of someone who did so much for her (at least in her eyes) alive. People who have unhealthy obsessions dehumanize the ones they obsess over, because they no longer love the subject, but simply cling onto an idealistic facade. She acknowledges the fact that his feelings toward her probably were that of pity and empathy, as well as recognizing his humanity and faults as a person. She doesn’t manipulate him, or try to force him to conform into what she wants and imagines him to be either. Like y’all really throwing any fucking thing just cause she wanted her son to remind her of him, like are you freaking serious? I’m not saying it’s the best choice, but everyone wants an realistic human being as a protagonist until they’re imperfect. Also, you obviously haven’t understood there’s an actual industry out there that people participate in where they can alter their child’s genetics to look a certain way. There was even a lesbian couple I met who had found a sperm donor who similar to one of the mothers so they’re child could bear more resemblance to both of them.
